Biography : Born to an affluent family in the suburbs of Saitama, and with 3 older brothers and 1 older sister, Takashi Nakayama soon established himself as the black sheep of his family. While his siblings all worked hard at school and university, and became successful businesspeople in their own right, Takashi spent much of his youth involved in petty crime. Eventually, at the age of 17, and with a number of convictions for theft and assault under his belt, his father grew tired of his exploits, and disowned his son, claiming that he brought dishonour upon the Nakayama family. With no money and very little possessions, Takashi was forced to live on the streets of Saitama, struggling to keep himself alive, earning food only by stealing money. One day, he attempted to mug a middle-aged man, only to be set upon by a gang of 8 men. It turned out that he had inadvertently attacked a member of the notorious Yakuza gang, but when the 8 men attacked him, Takashi managed to hold his own for a while, before being beaten down, and left in a bloody mess. But when this all happened, a man on the other side of the road was looking on, and was impressed by Takashis fighting spirit. When the gang were gone, the man went over to Takashi, and helped him, taking him to his home, and providing him with food, drink and shelter. The man turned out to be the promoter of an illegal underground Japanese fighting syndicate, known in English as The Death Ring. The man, who introduced himself as Inamoto-san, told Takashi that he was ideally suited to this competition, and after outlining the potential rewards for competing, invited Takashi to join. Lured by the money he could win, Takashi readily agreed. Takashi soon came to dominate The Death Ring, eliminating opponent after opponent, and making a great deal of money for himself. At the same time, he was able to hone his fighting skills, and also pick up a number of new talents, becoming skilled in all the known martial arts, and a few others besides, by the age of 22. But then, the police raided a Death Ring event, and closed the promotion down, arresting everyone involved, with the exception of Takashi and Inamoto-san, who managed to escape the scene. On the run from the police, the two fled the country, and travelled to America, where Takashi joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship. With the skills learnt from his time in Japan, Takashi dominated the UFC, and soon became UFC champion, and it was also here that he earned his Tornado nickname, due to his quickness and devastating effect on opponents.. It was in one of his bouts as champion, that the promoter of the now-defunct Extreme Championship Wrestling, Paul Hayman, spotted Takashi, and signed him to his federation. Now 23, Takashi entered ECW, but after a very promising start to his wrestling career, ECW closed, and Takashi found himself unemployed. But not for long. A few weeks later, Inamoto-san received a telephone call from a Layton Cameron, who introduced himself as Talent Relations Officer for a federation called the Global Wrestling Association. Inamoto-san recognised Camerons name immediately, as a very successful former professional wrestler known as Crusher, a man who had held 12 World Titles in 5 different wrestling federations around the globe. Inamoto-san eagerly agreed to meet with Cameron to discuss Takashi entering the GWA. At that meeting, Cameron explained that the GWA was just starting out, but already had several top-class wrestlers onboard, as well as a number of corporate sponsors. He also explained that the GWA aimed to become the top federation in the USA, and after a 3-hour meeting, both Takashi and Inamoto-san were convinced. Three days later, the two men met with the Owner of the GWA, Mr. Clint DeVasher, who offered Takashi a contract. Takashi quickly signed on the dotted line, and became a part of the GWA. Now, the young man from Japan is eagerly awaiting his GWA debut, and he has promised to run riot through the federation, and continue his remarkable run of success. Only time will tell if his promises hold weight, but Tornado Takashi Nakayama certainly has the talent and the potential to do as he promises |
