It was the only thing he had going for him. Mike, growing up with only his father, was not very wealthy, so he had to struggle through life. He soon discovered he had a gift with amateur wrestling. His father realized Mike's love for wrestling and emptied his bank account in order for Mike to be able to train. Mike finally got an audition for ICW (WCW- like company) and passed with flying colors. Mike started off as a mid-carder in ICW, under the name Cable, where he slowly moved his way up in the ranks. Here, Striker met the love of his life, Candi. He had a short reign (1/2 a month) as ICW World Champion before he was fired for refusal to lower his status to boost lower-carders. Mike decided that it was time to get back to training. He took refuge in WCW's Powerplant. He sped his way through and got a try-out for WCW television. The fans loved him, so he was signed. Mike, first dawning the name "Striker," became one of WCW's top underdogs. It was originally planned to have Striker join the nWo Wolfpack along with Sting, but the idea was quickly scrapped by WCW bookers. They believed that if they were to do this, they would be over-pushing Striker (although, they had no problem pushing Bill Goldberg). Striker, furious about the scrapping of this angle, quit WCW. He was unemployed for a few months before deciding to take a shot at Japanese wrestling. He briefly entered FMW (a hardcore federation in Japan). While there, he met up with his current tag partner, Fallen Angel. He left and spent a week or two in the XPW where he was contacted by a man named Adam Cage and signed to the International Wrestling Federation in December of 2000. He was quickly pushed to midcard status where he captured their Transcontinental Championship (second best championship) after only two months of being in action. The title reign was short lived due to a lack of focus (Striker’s father passed away during the night of a title defense). Striker was soon taken out with a knee injury and was on the sidelines for four months. Upon his return, Striker captures the tag championships with Fallen Angel (only to lose them in the next week due to his partner’s injury…which he is yet to fully recover from). Striker brings along a strong following of friends/freaks (Fallen Angel, his wife Candi…a former prostitute, Silky the pimp, Billy the retard, X-Calimime…a mime, Alotta Phellatio (another hooker), and Stewey the Anal-Retentive Elf). Striker was quick to capture the IWF World Championship. After he won the belt, he lost great interest in the company due to a strong lack of real competition. A few weeks short of having the longest title reign in the company, Striker lost the belt in a triple-threat match after the other opponent was pinned. He voluntarily moved down in the card and went for a shot at the Transcontinental Championship again at the Pay Per View for March of 2002. That night after a loss to the current champion, Striker, fed-up with the crooked backstage of the company, tears up his contract at the PPV and leaves the IWF for good.
