Friday Night Meltdown
30th August, 2002
Live from the Continental Airlines Arena, East Rutherford, NJ
The Meltdown credits roll, and then with a huge burst of pyro, we're live at the Continental Airlines Arena. The pyro show finishes, and the sell-out crowd goes wild, as the camera pans through them. We then cut to the announce table at ringside, where good ol' JF is seated alongside his broadcast colleague this evening, "The Stub" G. W. Haverford.
JF welcomes everyone to the show, and introduces himself and Stub, before saying that this is set to be a great night. He goes through what we have lined up for the show, and hypes the second semi-finals of the two title tournaments. Stub then says that we're only two days from the GWA's first-ever PPV, Genesis, so this is set to be a very interesting night indeed.
Suddenly, "Cadence To Arms" blares out of the speakers, and the fans launch into deafening boos, as The Scottish Warrior heads to ringside, waving his trademark Scotland flag proudly in the air. JF talks about the successful history of TSW in his past federations, as the big Scot enters the ring, and takes a microphone from ringside. "Cadence To Arms" cuts out, and a "Scotland sucks" chant circulates the arena. TSW, though, completely ignores the heckles of the fans, and begins to speak.
TSW - "Ye lot can dae whitever the fuck ye want tae dae, Ah dinnae care. Ah've got stuff tae say, an' Ah'm gonnae say it richt noo. So chant, boo, or dae whit ye dae best an' sit doon an' stare blankly, see if Ah gie a shite."
"First things first. Last week, Ah met that wee pish-stain Gabriel Trenton in this ring, an' we pit on a hell o' a match. Ah gave Trenton a true beatin', jist like Ah'd done many times afore, but again, luck wis on his side. The wee bastard won, but no' only that, he once again used mah move when he performed the Scottish Splash."
"Noo, ye'd think after Ah'd beat the livin' hell oot o' him in the IWF, pit him on the injured list fir months, an' gave him beatin' after beatin' after beatin' the last time he did that, he'd have learned his lesson. But naw, the muppet seems tae have less brain cells than the average New Jersey inhabitant - an' that takes some doin', seein' as the average aboot here is whit?… Two?"
The fans boo loudly, and begin to chant obscenities at TSW. The big Scot just laughs, then continues.
TSW - "Trenton, listen up. Seein' as how Ah've got mair important things tae worry aboot richt noo, Ah'm gonnae let ye aff. Jist this once, mind, if Ah ever see ye pull that shite again, Ah will dae mair damage tae ye than ye thought possible. Whit Ah did tae ye back in the IWF will pale intae insignificance, Ah will beat the livin' shite oot o' ye, Ah promise ye. Ye have been warned."
"Aye, Ah'm lettin' this yin go, but only fir one reason. Tae concentrate on winnin' gold. The nicht, Ah will take part in the second semi-final o' the Heavyweight Title Tournament, against Alvekan an' Norberto Palenque. Noo, let's take a wee look at that."
"Alvekan, the IWF reject. The useless cunt lasted aboot 15 minutes in the IWF, but he's done a wee bittie better here in the GWA. Jist a wee bit mind, because he's still a talentless big lummox. Ah proved that on Corruption, when Ah beat the big pishfuck 1-2-3 in the middle o' the ring. Alvekan, aw ye can dae is owerpower yer opponents - but Ah've shown ye cannae dae that tae me. Ye have nae wrestlin' talent, ye have nothin' goin' fir ye… hell, ye're practically fae this pishy state, so that proves it. Ah mean, New York's the same as New Jersey, is it no'?"
More loud boos from the fans, as TSW laughs in the ring.
TSW - "Hell, ye had the cheek tae mouth aff aboot me, callin' me a fat bastard? Listen, fannybaws, say whit ye want. Fact is, Ah gave ye a kickin' on Corruption, an' seein' as how ye've mouthed aff, ye're gettin' a bigger yin the nicht. Aye, Alvekan, Ah beat ye on Corruption, Ah'll beat ye again the nicht. Simple as that. Which brings us tae the ither guy, Norberto Palenque. Where is it this twat's fae? Belize? Ha - Ah hear they're poorer there than the Irish were in the tattie famine. Noo, Ah've dealt wi' illegal immigrants afore in matches, folk like The Latino Sensation, Pez an' Fez, an' so on - but this guy, he's special."
"Why's he so special? Cause he weighs aboot the same as a credit card, an' he thinks he's great cause he can fly aboot the ring performin' aw manner o' stupid stunts. Listen Norberto, that disnae make ye great… it jist makes ye injured. Which is whit ye're gonnae be after the nicht, after Ah'm through wi' ye. Perform aw the high-flyin' shite ye want, leap aboot like a monkey tae yer heart's content, it willnae make any difference. Cause once ye're anywhere near ye, Ah'll get haud o' ye, lift yer scrawny wee carcass intae the air, an' slam ye tae the mat wi' the Braveheart Bomb. An' that, as they say, will be that."
"Alvekan, Norberto, the nicht, ye's arenae gonnae be any match fir me, it's obvious to everybody. The nicht, Ah am gonnae beat ye, an' Ah am gonnae progress tae the Final, which believe me, Ah will win. Ah will be the first GWA Heavyweight Champion, an' dae ye ken why? Cause Ah'm SCOTTISH… and YOU… ARE… NNNOOOTTT!!!!!!"
"Cadence To Arms" hits again, and as boos fill the arena, TSW heads backstage, carrying his Scotland flag. The camera watches him go, and then we cut to JF and Stub at ringside. JF says that TSW is certainly sounding confident tonight, and Stub says he has every right to be, as he has great experience of the pressure of title matches, while his opponents tonight do not. JF says that's no reason to write Norberto and Alvekan off, as they're both great athletes, but does concede that TSW has to be considered the favourite to progress to the final.
JF then says that it's time to get this show on the road, and begins to hype up tonight's first contest. Stub says that Lé Java has yet to win a match here in the GWA, and so will be determined to end that streak tonight against the first finalist in the Global tournament, Takashi Nakayama. JF says that Takashi will be equally determined to keep up his momentum going into Sunday's title match. Stub says this should then be an intriguing contest, as well as an exciting one, as both men involved enjoy taking to the air for high-risk manoeuvres.
Lé Java vs. "Tornado" Takashi Nakayama
"Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja" by The LostProphets hits the PA system and the crowd erupts as "Tornado" Takashi Nakayama makes his entrance with Inamoto-san accompanying him. JF: "The little guy from Japan is making his entrance." Stub: "He has been quite successful so far. Can he pull another victory over the struggling Frenchman Lé Java? I think he could." JF: "He could, but Lé Java has the advantage on paper. He is taller and heavier. This match will be a mix of power and high flying action."
Takashi climbs into the ring and leans over the ropes while Inamoto-san stays on the outside giving him some last minute advice and couching. Takashi's music cuts out and Lé Java walks out. The crowd give a rather muted reaction as the big Frenchman walks out to face Takashi. Lé Java walks down the ramp and uses the ring steps to enter the ring. Lé Java stands in a corner awaiting the start of the match while Takashi Nakayama warms up in the opposite corner. Stub: "Both men look fired up in different respects. This should be a good match."
The bell rings and both men run at each other. Lé Java knocks Takashi down with a shoulder block and immediately bounces off the ropes. Takashi sees this and ducks an attempted kick to the face and gets to his feet. Lé Java bounces off the opposite ropes and Takashi tries to leap frog over Lé Java but Lé Java catches Takashi on his shoulders. Lé Java holds him there while Takashi pounds Lé Java's head trying to make Lé Java drop him. Stub: "Haha! Lé Java is too strong for Nakayama.
Lé Java then starts running and hits a devastating running power bomb that shakes the whole ring. Lé Java gets up, picks Takashi up and whips him into the ropes. When Takashi returns, Lé Java executes and blinding tilt-o-whirl backbreaker. JF: "Looks like Lé Java is pretty fast too." Lé Java again picks up Takashi but this time lifts him up high above his head. He then throws Takashi hard out of the ring. He throws him so hard Takashi lands on the guardrail. JF: "Lé Java just threw Nakayama like he was a rag doll." Lé Java rolls out of the ring and starts pounding on the back of Takashi. He then lifts him up onto his shoulders again going for another powerbomb.
Lé Java tries to but Takashi holds on to Lé Java's head making it impossible for Lé Java to perform the move. Instead Lé Java starts running at a near by steel ring post. But Takashi counters by executing a snap hurricaranna which flips Lé Java back first into the steel ring post. The crowd cheers at Takashi's athleticism. Stub: "Great athleticism shown by Takashi Nakayama."
Takashi gets to his feet and gives Lé Java a few Karate chops before picking him up and rolling him into the ring. Takashi climbs the turnbuckle and waits as Lé Java slowly gets to his feet. Stub: "What's he gonna pull out of his hat now?" Lé Java eventually gets to his feet, the crowd roars as Takashi nails a missile dropkick into the face of Lé Java. Stub: "Nakayama just flew!" Takashi springs back up and nails a Senton splash. He then pins Lé Java. 1… 2… Lé Java drives his shoulder up before the three-count.
Takashi gets to his feet and waits for Lé Java to follow suit. Lé Java gets to his feet and stands groggily. Takashi a nails running judo kick to the mid-section, then a karate straight and to finish off the combo, he executes a high octane tae-kwon-do spinning back kick to the side of Lé Java's head. Lé Java falls backwards onto the ropes. JF: "Whoa! That was a stunning combo!"
Takashi sees Lé Java on the ropes, so he locks in the spider stretch. JF: "That's the Spider Stretch. Will Lé Java give in?" Takashi holds it for a while. Lé Java screams out in French but Takashi cannot hold the hold for long and he releases Lé Java's head. Lé Java then locks his knees around Takashi's neck and flips him over the ropes into the ring.
Lé Java gets up and holds his huge back in a bit of pain. Lé Java turns Takashi onto his stomach and locks in a sleeper and elevates Takashi into a camel clutch as well. JF: "I have never seen this sort of move attempted before." At first Takashi screams in a lot of pain. He then begins to fade. Stub: "Do you think the little guy can withstand this sleeper after countering nearly everything Lé Java has thrown at him?" JF: "It looks like Lé Java has that sleeper locked in tight with the big tree trunks he has for arms."
The ref lifts Takashi's arm and lets go. It drops limply to the mat. The ref signals 1 to the bell ringer. The ref again lifts Takashi's arm and lets go. Takashi's arm again falls limply to the mat. The ref signals 2 to the bell ringer. The ref then lifts Takashi's arm for the final time. Stub: "It's over." JF: "Don't count Nakayama out yet." The ref lets go and Takashi's arm falls about half way before he clenches his fist and brings his arm up. Takashi starts elbowing Lé Java in the gut. Slowly Takashi fights to a standing position but Lé Java still keeps the sleeper locked in. When Takashi is standing he begins to kick Lé Java in the shins.
Lé Java lifts Takashi of the mat to stop him doing this and Takashi flails his legs in pain. JF: "This must be putting excruciating pain on his neck." There is a grimace on the faces of both men. Lé Java going red fighting to keep the hold locked. Takashi stops flailing his legs, evidently unable to move anymore. Lé Java then performs an atomic bomb unable to hold Takashi up for longer. Takashi lies motionless while Lé Java is on his hands and knees slightly out of breath and fatigued. The crowd give a slight cheer of appreciation for Lé Java.
Stub: "He may not be very successful but Lé Java is very able." JF: "Yeah! He was able to neutralize the speed and agility of Nakayama." Lé Java gets to his feet and drags Takashi to the centre of the ring. JF: "Is he going to go up top?" Lé Java climbs to the top turnbuckle and faces Takashi, who is lying motionless in the middle of the ring. A big smile crosses Lé Java's face. Stub: "I bet he is trying to think of a move to do."
The Frenchman steadies himself up top, then leaps off with a big splash! At the last instant, though, Takashi moves! Lé Java hits the mat hard, and cries out in pain, before being dragged back up by Takashi. The Saitama native boots Lé Java in the gut, and then drops him with the Honourable Death! JF yells that it's over, and sure enough, Takashi covers, and picks up the victory!
Winner via Pinfall: "Tornado" Takashi Nakayama
"Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja" hits again, as the crowd rise to acclaim the victorious Takashi. The referee raises Takashi's hand in the air, before he rolls out of the ring and makes his way backstage with Inamoto-san. The two celebrate as they go, while JF says that Takashi just picked up another big win, and kept his momentum up going into Genesis this Sunday. Stub says that Takashi will be looking to continue his recent run of form at Genesis, and become the first-ever Global Champion, and JF says it is entirely possible that will happen. Stub says that Takashi doesn't yet know who he'll be facing, but will find out later tonight, as we cut backstage.
We find ourselves in the parking lot, and as we watch, a long black limo draws up. After a brief pause, the door opens, and GWA President Clint DeVasher steps out, to a big pop from the fans in the arena. DeVasher slams the door shut, then strides into the arena, a smile on his face. JF yells that the owner is here, and it looks as though he's headed out to ringside, as Meltdown fades to the first commercial break of the evening.
[GWA Genesis - This Sunday, live on pay-per-view from Madison Square Garden.]
Meltdown returns, and immediately, the theme from 'The Omen' blares out of the speakers, to a good pop from the fans gathered in the Continental Airlines Arena. Clint DeVasher strides out onto the stage, and after surveying the cheering fans, makes his way down the ramp. He greets the fans at ringside, before climbing the stairs, and stepping through the ring ropes. DeVasher waves to the crowd, then takes a microphone from ringside. His music cuts out, and the arena quietens, as he begins to speak.
DeVasher - "First of all, let me say what an honour it is to be here in New Jersey."
Big pop from the fans, as Stub makes a comment about the owner sucking up to the fans. JF tells him to shut up if he wants to keep his job, and Stub falls silent.
DeVasher - "Not a lot of people know this, but from when I was four years old, until my late teens, I lived in this state, in New Brunswick. I consider New Jersey my home, so it's great to be back here once again, entertaining all of you!"
Another big pop from the fans, as DeVasher smiles in the ring.
DeVasher - "Now speaking of entertaining, let's get down to business. We all saw the incredible tournament semi-finals that went down on Corruption, well tonight, we've got two more for ya! Both of them will be exciting matches, I'm sure, so enjoy them folks."
"But, of course, the real stuff is this Sunday at Genesis. Our first champions will be crowned, and I want these first champions to truly be the best of the best. So, I'm going to make sure of that by adding a couple of stipulations. First, the Global Title Final will be a From Heaven To Hell Match. What's that? It's a basic Hell In A Cell, but with a twist. See, the wrestlers involved will start the match atop a scaffold!"
The crowd go wild, as JF screams that match is certain to be insane, dangerous, and one hell of a slobberknocker.
DeVasher - "And as for the Heavyweight Title Final, that match will be a Three Stages Of Hell Match. Some of you may not know what that is - it's simple, really. It's best 2 out of 3 falls. First fall is a simple wrestling match, normal rules apply. Second fall, Hardcore match, anything goes. And third fall, if it's needed, will be inside the self-same Hell In A Cell we're using for the Global Final!"
The fans go nuts again, as JF yells various clichés like "hellacious", "slobberknocker", and "OH MY GOD!!!"
DeVasher - "And as for the rest of Genesis, what do we have planned? Well, I announced last week that Kriminal, Blitz, and Deju Del Toro would compete in a triple-threat table match… I've changed my mind. That match will instead take place on next week's Corruption. Because there will be another two contests at Genesis. First, a Ladder Match between the four semi-final losers in the Global tournament for a shot at the newly-crowned Global champion… and second, a Backstage Brawl match between the four semi-final losers in the Heavyweight tournament for a shot at that title!"
Another huge pop, as JF yells that Genesis is going to be one hell of a show, and Stub shouts that he can't wait.
DeVasher - "On top of that, I will personally be making a huge announcement on the show. What does it concern? Well, that would be telling… But let's just say that it will cause a massive impact here in the GWA."
"Now, one more thing. Everyone saw the message that flashed up onto the GlobalVision on Corruption - 'we are coming'. I don't know who this 'we' are, I know nothing about this, but I'll warn them now - if they think they can mess with me and get away with it, they've got another thing coming… I guarantee I'll make them pay. Now, I'll disappear backstage, and let you enjoy the rest of the show! Thank you!"
DeVasher's theme hits again, and the crowd cheer loudly for the GWA President, as he makes his way backstage. JF and Stub discuss what he had to say, and JF says that Genesis is shaping up to be one hell of a show. Stub agrees, and the two go over the four matches that have been booked, before JF speculates over what DeVasher's big announcement could be. Stub says he has no idea, but he can't wait to find out. JF agrees, then says that it's time for tonight's next match-up.
Stub says that Mr Happyhead has made quite an impression in the GWA, and all for the wrong reasons. JF says that Happyhead is a sick, evil bastard, and Stub agrees, then says that it is that ruthless streak that has got him to the final of the Heavyweight tournament. JF says that he can't believe that an asshole like that could be the first man to represent this company as champion, then says that he hopes Gabriel Trenton can teach him a lesson tonight.
Stub says that Trenton is more than capable, given his past record, and JF agrees. JF then goes over Trenton's history, mentioning his European and Intercontinental title reigns in the IWF, before Stub says that Trenton is a very innovative and talented athlete. JF nods, and says that this should be an interesting encounter, as the camera cuts to the ramp for the entrance of the first man down.
Mr Happyhead vs. Gabriel Trenton
Mr Happyhead quickly makes his way out to the ring as "The Wrath" plays and he makes his signature, stupid entrance. Mr Happyhead walks down the ramp mocking some fans on the way, much to JF's amusement. Mr Happyhead slides into the ring and climbs up onto the nearest turnbuckle and mocks the crowd by flipping them off, to an array of boos. Mr Happyhead, upon hearing the reaction, applauds the fans, causing yet more heat from the fans! He jumps down and awaits his opponent.
Gabriel Trenton walks out to an array of cheers as "Pop" by N*Sync hits throughout the arena. "Flash" Gunn mentions that of all the songs to pick as a theme tune, it had to be a gay one by a gay band like N*Sync. Trenton makes his way to the ring quickly and slides in and gets up and is within a matter of feet of Mr Happyhead.
The referee calls for the bell to start the match. The two wrestlers grapple and try to overpower each other and Mr Happyhead comes out best after stepping back and causing Trenton to fall flat on his face. Mr Happyhead points at Trenton, lying flat on the mat, and starts laughing.
Mr Happyhead continues to laugh and doesn't see Trenton's stretching arm, which grabs hold of Mr Happyhead's leg and pulls him to the ground. Trenton gets up and begins to stomp onto Mr Happyhead before bouncing off the ropes and hitting a leg drop onto him. This takes a lot out of Mr Happyhead and Trenton tries a cover...One...Two...SO CLOSE! Mr Happyhead was barely able to raise a shoulder, even this early on in the match.
Happyhead and Trenton get up at about the same time and start trading punches before Trenton whips Happyhead off the ropes and takes him down with a devastating spinebuster. Trenton goes for another quick cover in the match...One...Two...Happyhead raises a shoulder!
Gabriel Trenton shouts at the referee as Happyhead gets up and sneaks up behind Trenton before punching Trenton in the back and executing a wedgie on Trenton, much to JF's pleasure and the crowd's delight. Happyhead gets a big cheer from the crowd as he does this and he finishes it all off by tripping Trenton up, causing him to fall against the ropes.
Happyhead runs at Trenton and clotheslines him from behind, but still manages to knock him over the top rope to the outside. Mr Happyhead climbs through the ropes and falls off the apron, onto Gabriel Trenton, landing a perfect splash, to everyone's, including his own, disbelief. My Happyhead gets up and picks up Trenton, before rolling him back into the ring and sliding in after him.
Happyhead starts kicking into Trenton when suddenly The Scottish Warrior enters from within the crowd and leaps up onto the apron behind Mr Happyhead. TSW reaches out and grabs onto Mr Happyhead, in a position for Trenton, who is now on his feet, to attack Mr Happyhead. Stub asks why the hell TSW is out here, and JF says that TSW must be looking to send Happyhead a message, as he believes it will be him he is facing at Genesis in the Heavyweight final.
Trenton punches into Mr Happyhead several times and then steps back to take a run at Mr Happyhead. Gabriel Trenton makes it clear that he is going to clothesline Mr Happyhead when, at the last minute, Mr Happyhead ducks and Trenton clotheslines TSW instead, and bounces off the ropes, to be kicked in the midsection by Happyhead.
Happyhead knocks Trenton to the ground with a hellacious spinebuster, and holds onto him by the legs, in a wishbone leg-split position and starts kicking into Trenton's genital area. Mr Happyhead presses his foot into the genital area of Trenton and shouts on him to tap out, that he's nothing more than a "whiny bitch", as JF yells that Happyhead has the Ball Buster cinched in. Happyhead continues to press into Trenton's groin and eventually causes Trenton to tap out. Happyhead continues to hold the submission before letting go and letting out a big "WOOH!"
Winner via Submission: Mr Happyhead
The referee raises Mr Happyhead's hand, in victory and the bell ring to signal the end of the match. Mr Happyhead mounts each turnbuckle in turn and salutes the crowd before sliding out of the ring. As he walks up the ramp, TSW comes from behind, and takes him down with a hard clothesline to the back of the head!
The fans boo, as TSW stomps away on Happyhead, then drags him to his feet. TSW drags Happyhead up the ramp onto the stage, then hits him with a big right hand. Happyhead staggers backward under the force of the punch, and TSW runs at him, and nails a huge clothesline. This time, the impact causes Happyhead to fall backwards, straight off the stage and through a table below!
Stub screams that Happyhead is broken in half thanks to TSW, and JF shouts that it serves the SOB right. TSW walks to the edge of the stage, and looks down at the motionless form of Happyhead. TSW yells "Ah'll see ye at Genesis, dickhead!", before turning, and heading backstage, as "Cadence To Arms" blares over the PA system. Stub yells that TSW is clearly very confident of victory in his semi-final match tonight, as the camera focuses on the prone Happyhead, before cutting to commercial.
[Roleplaying = Good. Unemployment = Bad. You choose.]
As Meltdown returns, we find ourselves in one of the changing rooms backstage and inside it are GWA star Kriminal, and his wife/valet Miss Demeanour. They can be seen sitting down, in a conversation. We begin to pick up on the conversation as GWA's number 1 interviewer, Eli Quackenbush, knocks on the open door, and enters with the cameraman filming him walking in. He shakes hands with Kriminal and sits down after being motioned to by Kriminal. Eli Quackenbush hesitates for a couple of seconds before looking up from the ground and makes eye contact with Kriminal.
Eli - "Hey man, how's things?"
Kriminal - "Not too bad, how about yourself man?"
Eli - "Ok...I suppose..."
Kriminal - "What's up?"
Eli - "Nothing really…"
Kriminal - "Ok…Cool…"
Eli - "So….how are you feeling just a short time before looking destiny straight in the face?"
Kriminal - "I'm great, I cannot wait to win my Global Title shot at Genesis, and go on to become the first Global Champion of the GWA."
Eli - "Yes, I understand what you mean."
Kriminal - "Cool…Cool"
Eli - "Yeah…So…Congratulations for your win on Corruption against Psycho…It was a great match!"
Kriminal - "Thanks…It was, wasn't it?"
A big smile creeps upon Kriminal's face.
Eli - "Yes, I was impressed…And I hear that Mr DeVasher was very impressed also."
Kriminal - "Was he???"
Eli - "Yeah."
Kriminal - "WOOOOOOH!"
Eli Quackenbush appears to be startled by Kriminal's excited outburst.
Eli - "O…kay."
Kriminal - "That's great news!"
Eli - "Yeah…Anyways…You've shown that you could take it to everyone you've came up against so far, and also against Blitz's sneak attack attempt after your win over Psycho on Corruption."
Kriminal - "Yeah."
Eli - "And you've shown that you can beat Psycho, a.k.a the GWA's own madman, who is one of your opponents tonight in your semi-final match."
Kriminal - "Yeah…I'll just have to whoop him again."
Eli - "Ok…And you also took it to Deju Del Toro just over a week ago. That match ended after Blitz interfered and it ended in a No Contest. But you clearly had the constant advantage in the match."
Kriminal - "Damn straight!"
Eli - "Yeah…Perhaps, if it hadn't been for Blitz interfering, you'd have picked up your first win in the GWA sooner than you had."
Kriminal - "Yeah...You're right."
Eli - "Yeah"
Kriminal - "So..."
Eli - "I think that about wraps it up!"
Kriminal - "Ok..."
Eli Quackenbush gets up and begins to move in the direction of the door.
Eli - "Thanks for your time."
Kriminal - "No problem."
Eli Quackenbush opens the door and steps out of it with Kriminal following. They step out into the corridor and the two shake hands.
Eli - "Once again, thanks."
Kriminal - "As I said, no problem man."
Eli heads off down the corridor, and Kriminal turns back into the locker room. He picks up his wrestling boots, and begins to put them on, as we cut back to ringside. JF says that Kriminal has been impressive since the opening of the GWA, and Stub agrees, then wonders if the young man could find himself in the Global Final this Sunday at Genesis.
JF says it's possible, but he's up against some tough opposition in the shape of Psycho and Deju Del Toro. Stub says we're about to find out, because that match is next up. A quick montage video showcases all the matches in the tournament so far, everything from the opening round to Happyhead advancing to the Heavyweight finals, and Takashi Nakayama advancing to the Global finals.
Jim Floss welcomes us back, as we find ourselves getting ready for the other semifinal matches. On the Heavyweight side we're going to see the Scottish Warrior take on Alvekan and "The Flying Mayan" Norberto Palenque, but right now, we're going to find out who's facing Tornado.
Psycho vs. Kriminal vs. Deju Del Toro (Global Title Tournament Semi-Final)
Harsh guitars signal "My Plague" by Slipknot, and the crowd boos the arrival of Psycho. Jim Floss talks about the storied past of the former Braveheart, citing his success in the IWF and his reputation the world over. Psycho charges down the ramp, and slides into the ring on his stomach. He hops up to his feet and walks over to the turnbuckle, climbs up two rungs, and raises his hands to the reaction from the crowd. His music dies down, and soon D12's "Fight Music" begins rapping above the cheering crowd.
Kriminal steps out from backstage hopping up and down as the crowd roars its approval. The Stub begins reminiscing to the war, talking about how he had a black man in his division. His name was Leroy, and he kept complaining about the lack of grits and fried chicken. Jim Floss interrupts Haverford, and begins to talk about Kriminal's exciting victory over Psycho not too long ago. Psycho looks from the ring with determination, watching as his opponent struts down the entrance towards the ring.
Psycho begins to move towards the ropes, but referee Tom Foolery pushes him to the opposite corner. Psycho tries to force his way past as Kriminal enters the ring. Kriminal continues playing to the cheers of the crowd, raising the roof and whatnot. He makes the mistake of turning his back to Psycho and finds himself hit with a tackle in the back. Psycho begins throwing punches and gouging at Kriminal's eyes as he kneels on his chest.
Tom Foolery tries to pull Psycho off, but he gets pushed away. Psycho begins blatantly choking his opponent, wrapping his hands around the neck of the man that beat him just a few days ago in Philadelphia. Foolery finally manages to pull Psycho away, just as Mexican music starts. Deju Del Toro rushes out from backstage, as Jim Floss says that he doesn't want to miss out on any of the fun. Del Toro hits the ring quickly, and begins laying right hands into Psycho. He backs the Scottish native into the ropes and clotheslines him over the top!
Psycho drops to the floor just in front of the announce table as Kriminal gets up to his feet in the ring. Del Toro charges at the Wonder Kid, but Kriminal lowers a shoulder and flips Deju over onto his back. Kriminal follows it up with an outstanding standing moonsault, displaying phenomenal athleticism. He goes for the early pinfall, but Del Toro kicks out after a one count.
Psycho begins digging through the apron for something as "The Stub" praises his resourcefulness. Jim Floss mentions G.W.'s days as a wrestler where he was notorious for cheating. Haverford defends himself, stating that it's perfectly legal to hit a man with his stub of an arm. They continue bickering as Psycho pulls a table out from under the ring. He slides it on the apron, and turns over towards the announce table.
Psycho grabs a chair and begins making his way to the ring. He climbs in, but Foolery stops him and holds onto the chair. Psycho begins arguing with him, as Kriminal walks over towards the table that Psycho put in the ring. He unfolds its legs and sets it up in the corner. Del Toro gets up to his feet and begins charging towards Kriminal.
Kriminal turns in time to notice the charging Del Toro, and bends over, once again tryinig to back body drop the Mexican Thunder, this time through a table. Del Toro manages to land with his feet on the second turnbuckle. He steadies himself and turns around. Kriminal turns around as well, but not quickly enough. Del Toro kicks him in the upper chest, grabs him around the head, and hits a top rope X Factor through the table!!!!
The crowd roars its approval, as Tom Foolery turns around to see what occurred behind his back. Del Toro slides out of the ring before Tom can see him, and Foolery checks on Kriminal amongst the wreckage of the table. Del Toro paces around the turnbuckle, checking his nose to see if its bleeding. Floss reminds us that Del Toro had a little problem with his nose in his match against "The Flying Mayan" on Corruption. Del Toro pulls his hand away from his nose, but Psycho runs along the apron then leaps off with a jumping chairshot into Del Toro's head!!!!
Del Toro crumples to the floor holding his head, as Psycho begins to climb back on the apron still holding his chair. He grabs onto the ropes with his left hand, before looking back at his downed opponent. Psycho hops onto the second rope, and repels with an Asai Moonsault, holding the chair against his chest! He comes crashing down on top of Del Toro, sandwiching the chair onto the Mexican Thunder!!!!!
The crowd cheers the move, as Psycho crawls off of his opponent. "The Stub" G.W. Haverford says that if you're going to cheat, you should at least do it so you won't get hurt as well. Jim Floss disagrees, saying that's why they're called high risk maneuvers. Psycho continues crawling around on the outside, making his way towards the announce table. Kriminal begins to stir in the ring.
Tom Foolery pulls away, and looks over at the wreckage outside the ring as well. He scratches his head, shrugs his shoulders, and begins counting out the two men on the outside. Kriminal uses the ropes to pull himself up, and he limps around the ring trying to regain himself. He looks to the outside and sees his opponents. Psycho begins to stand up on his own, using the announce table as leverage. Kriminal charges towards the ropes and leaps over them, turning in the air, and hitting Psycho with a corkscrew plancha!!!!!!
The two men roll over the table and force the Stub and JF out of their seats. Kriminal begins using the barricade behind to get up to his feet as Psycho tries to do the same just beside him. Kriminal grabs Psycho by the hair, and rams his face into the barricade a few times. 1... 2... 3... 4... Tom Foolery's countdown gets scrapped after he realizes he's not going to be able to drag these men back into the ring.
Kriminal continues ramming Psycho's head against the barricade, but Psycho shows his uncanny ability to take a beating, and plants his hand into the wall, before ramming Kriminal head first into the barricade. Once, twice, three times. Then Psycho turns to his opponent and delivers a vicious clothesline, even if both men are on their knees.
Psycho begins clawing his way back up to his feet, and he grabs Kriminal by the hair and drags him towards the ring. Psycho pulls both himself, Del Toro, and the St. Lunatic to their feet. He rolls everyone, including himself, into the ring. Psycho goes for the pinfall on Del Toro. 1... 2... Kick out!! He rolls off, and quickly pins Kriminal. 1... 2... Kick out!!
The crowd cheers as all three men begin to climb up to their feet. Psycho is the first up, but Kriminal and Del Toro soon follow. All three men reel back and forth punching each other, as no man gains the advantage. Finally, Kriminal kicks Psycho in the stomach with his right boot, and then Del Toro in the stomach with a left boot. Both men hunch over and Kriminal grabs them both by the head and hits a two man Death Penalty!!! He makes the cover! 1... 2... 3!!!
Winner via Pinfall: Kriminal
"Fight Music" hits, as JF yells that it's going to be Kriminal against Takashi in the Global Final. The fans cheer, as Kriminal celebrates in the ring, before rolling to the outside, and heading backstage, still celebrating. The camera follows him, and backstage, Kriminal finds Takashi and Inamoto-san waiting for him. Kriminal stops dead, suddenly serious, and he stands toe-to-toe with Takashi, as the two stare at each other. JF says you could cut the tension with a knife here, and Stub adds that this could explode at any second.
Takashi - "You performed well, Kriminal-san. But not well enough. On Sunday, I shall defeat you, and I shall be the Global Champion. And you, you shall fall victim to an Honourable Death."
Kriminal continues staring at Takashi, then shakes his head slowly. A smile breaks on Kriminal's face, and he backs away, making the belt-around-the-waist motion. Takashi watches him leave, as Meltdown heads to the final commercial break.
[Tuesday Night Corruption - Live on NBC!]
Meltdown comes back from the final commercial break, and we find ourselves backstage again. Mr Happyhead is receiving medical treatment after the attack by TSW earlier, but suddenly, he shoves the medics away.
Happyhead - "That Scottish prick is going to pay. I'm going to watch this match, and then he'll get what's coming to him…"
We cut back to ringside, where JF wonders what he means by that. Stub says it's obvious, and TSW had better watch his back here. JF nods, as footage is shown of how these three men progressed to this stage, before we see TSW attack Happyhead earlier tonight. Stub says that TSW is extremely confident of progressing, and probably justifiably so, as he has to be considered the favourite here. JF lists the merits of Alvekan and Norberto Palenque, and says that this will be a tough match, as we cut to the ring.
The Scottish Warrior vs. Alvekan vs. Norberto Palenque (Heavyweight Title Tournament Semi-Final)
Sevendust's "Denial" hits, and the fans cheer as Alvekan heads down to the ring. The 6'7" monster climbs into the ring, and taunts to the fans, before turning to face the ramp, making the belt-around-the-waist motion. JF talks about Alvekan's ability and self-confidence, before "As The Ruin Falls" by Thrice blares out of the PA system.
The Belizean Sensation Norberto Palenque runs down to the ring, and slides to the inside. He and Alvekan lock eyes, and the two stare at each other, neither moving, before both turning to face the ramp as the arena darkens and "Cadence To Arms" hits. The fans boo loudly as the Auchenheath native makes his usual entrance, proudly waving his Scotland flag in the air. TSW props the flag against the ring steps, then rolls into the ring.
The three combatants stand in different areas of the ring, eyeing each other warily. The referee calls for the bell, but none of the three move, as they still eye each other. Alvekan begins to speak to Palenque and signals to TSW. The Belizean nods, and JF says it looks as though the two are going to work together here. Alvekan walks over to TSW, but Palenque grabs him from behind and drops him with a big German Suplex! Stub says that alliance didn't last long, as Palenque stands up, only for TSW to knock him down with a clothesline.
Alvekan is back up, and he knocks TSW down with a clothesline of his own. Alvekan stomps the hell out of TSW and also hits some elbow drops to the back of the big Scot. Palenque is up and turns Alvekan around. Palenque hits Alvekan with some hard sounding chops to the chest. Palenque hits a combination of chops and right hands, backing Alvekan into the corner.
Alvekan manages to turn the tide and strikes Palenque with consecutive fists to the face. TSW standing behind Alvekan, turns him around and nails him with several fists to the face. TSW sends Alvekan into the ropes and scores with a dropkick. Alvekan stands back up and TSW nails him with further right hands.
Palenque comes up behind TSW, and hits forearms to his back, then sends him shoulder first into the corner. Alvekan surprises Palenque with a Lou Thez Press and explodes with a TON of fists, Austin-style, as the fans cheer loudly. Alvekan gets off Palenque and expands his legs only to stomp Palenque in the lower abdomen.
Suddenly, TSW grabs Alvekan, and drops him with the Lion Rampant! JF shouts this one could be over already, as TSW hooks the leg, One...Two... Palenque breaks up the count with a hard kick to the back of TSW! Stub says that was close, as Palenque applies a Full Nelson on TSW and drags him up to his feet.
Palenque continues using that submission move, then shows great strength to turn it into a face buster. Palenque wrenches the arm of TSW and Alvekan, now back up, wrenches TSW's other hand. Alvekan and Palenque combine to hit a Double Back Body Suplex on TSW.
With TSW down, Alvekan turns his attention to Palenque, and gives him kick to the stomach then sends him into the ropes. Alvekan lifts his knee up and catches Palenque in an abdominal stretch. Palenque grimaces in pain, but then, by pulling the leg of Alvekan with his free arm, makes him drop to the canvas. Palenque begins to kick Alvekan's knee, several times, as Stub says that he's trying to weaken the big man, and keep him down.
Suddenly, TSW is up behind Palenque, and he turns the Flying Mayan around into a DDT! JF yells that was a devastating manoeuvre, as TSW climbs to the third turnbuckle. Alvekan stumbles up, but walks straight into a flying reverse elbow into the head from the big Scot! TSW signals at Alvekan to get up, and when he does, scores with a flapjack, driving Alvekan into the canvas.
Palenque is up and gives TSW several chops to the chest, before hitting a side Russian leg sweep. Palenque goes back to Alvekan and lifts his leg up and bounces his knee off the canvas with tremendous force. JF says that's good strategy from the smallest man in this match, as Alvekan rolls to the outside in order to regroup. Palenque dives through the ropes but Alvekan moves and the Belizean Sensation goes head-first into the guardrail!
Stub says you sometimes pay the price when you try high-risk stuff, as Alvekan picks Palenque up and nails him with tons of right hands, before sending him down with a snap suplex on the outside. In the ring, TSW climbs to the third rope, then dives onto Alvekan with a high crossbody! Alvekan goes down and Palenque nails TSW from behind with a mule kick, followed by a back body suplex on the outside.
Alvekan stumbles to his feet and kicks Palenque in the gut, before bouncing his head off the ring apron and sliding him into the ring. JF says this is a hell of a match, and Stub adds it's clear to see how badly these three guys want to get to the Final. Alvekan enters the ring and continues to drops several knee into the head of the Belize native. TSW climbs onto the apron, then up to the third rope. Alvekan notices and yells at him, and is then nailed by a flying clothesline by TSW!
TSW pulls Palenque up, and the Belizean goes for a right hand on TSW, but the big Scot fights back with some further right hands. TSW hits a snap suplex on Palenque and slides over him, hooking the leg, One... Two... Palenque gets his shoulder up. JF comments on the resiliency on display here, as well as the determination.
Alvekan comes up behind TSW, and nails him with some double axe handles to the back, then sends him into the corner. Alvekan lays the boot into TSW, then begins to stomp a mudhole in him! Palenque is up and he turns Alvekan around, putting him down with a belly-to-belly suplex. Surprisingly quickly, Alvekan gets back up, but Palenque hits a drop toe-hold, followed by the Serpent Choke!!
Alvekan roars in pain, as JF yells that Palenque could win with his patented submission hold, but Alvekan refuses to tap out. Alvekan bridges up, and then somehow reaches the ropes, forcing Norberto to break the hold. Palenque lets go of Alvekan and gets to his feet. Suddenly, TSW comes out of nowhere with a huge spear on Palenque!!! He has the cover as JF yells this could be over, One...Two...THR… Alvekan breaks up the count at the last second!
Alvekan grabs TSW by the hair and pulls him up, then gives him some right hands. He gets close to the ropes and suplexes TSW over the third rope, sending him crashing into the apron first and then to the outside! Stub says that TSW could be out of this match now, as Palenque gets up. Alvekan kicks him in the gut and look's for Urza's Rage, but Palenque manages to send him into the ropes, then catches him with the Backtracking Piledriver!!!
JF yells that it's over, as Palenque covers, but TSW enters the ring and breaks up the count! Palenque and TSW begin trading right hands in the center of the ring. Palenque gains the advantage and applies a side headlock. TSW counters by lifting Palenque high in the air and sending him over the third rope and to the outside with a back suplex!

He covers, but TSW drags him up, then turns Palenque around and hits the Lion Rampant!!! The fans are on their feet booing, but TSW does not cover. Instead, he grabs one of Palenque's legs and one of his arms, and applies the St. Andrew's Cross!!!
Palenque is screaming in pain, and he tries desperately to reach the ropes, but they're just out of reach. TSW has the submission applied perfectly, and Stub says that the pain must be excruciating. Palenque lifts his hand to tap and .. Alvekan enters the ring and blast TSW over the head with a steel chair!!!
JF shouts that should be a DQ, but Stub points out we have to have an outright winner, so DQ's are pointless. TSW collapses to the canvas, and as the camera zooms in, it's clear to see he has been really badly busted open. Palenque limps to his feet, only to get caught in the Hell March!!!
Alvekan throws the chair to the outside and picks Palenque up again, he lifts him into the air for the Incineration, but Palenque drops down behind him, and nails a dropkick to the back of the head, sending Alvekan staggering into the corner! Palenque is on his knees, breathing heavily, while Alvekan is in shock, to see Palenque react so fast after being hit with the Hell March.
TSW staggers up with blood pouring down his face. Alvekan and Palenque begin duking it out in the centre of the ring. JF says that TSW wants to punish Alvekan for the comments he made yesterday, as TSW steadies himself. Then, with a cry of "FREEDOM!!!", the Scot leaps off the top, and nails Alvekan with a perfect Scottish Splash! TSW hooks the leg, and the referee counts… One… Two… Palenque tries desperately to get into the ring… THREE!!! TSW wins it!
Winner via Pinfall: The Scottish Warrior
"Cadence To Arms" hits, as JF yells that TSW's confidence did indeed have foundation, and the big Scot is heading to Genesis to take on Mr Happyhead for the GWA Heavyweight Title. Suddenly, boos fill the arena, as Mr Happyhead appears through the crowd with a sledgehammer, slides into the ring, and nails TSW right in the ribs with it!
TSW crumples to the canvas, as Happyhead drops the weapon, and begins to shout at the Scotsman. JF says that Happyhead is heinous, as he drags TSW up, then nails him with the Drop Into Depression! TSW lies prone in the centre of the ring, as Happyhead rolls to the outside, shoves the timekeeper off his chair, and folds it up.
Happyhead slides into the ring with the chair, and hits a vicious shot to TSW's head. He then drags TSW to his feet, and throws him into the corner, before splaying his legs apart, and placing the chair between them. Stub yells that this is sick, as Happyhead takes a run-up, then boots the chair full-force into TSW's genitalia with America's Funniest Home Video!
The bloodied TSW slumps down to the mat, and JF says that Happyhead has definitely sent a message to the big Scot here. Stub says he's not done, and JF yells that enough is enough, as Happyhead places the chair in the middle of the ring, then drags TSW up. Happyhead yells abuse at the helpless TSW, then sets him up, and drills him onto the chair with The Abortion!
JF screams that TSW has been completely decimated here, as "The Wrath" hits the speakers, and the fans hurl abuse at Happyhead. Happyhead merely laughs, then spits on TSW's limp body, before exiting the ring. He makes his way backstage, avoiding the rubbish thrown at him, and still laughing, as Stub says that TSW may be in no fit state to compete on Sunday at Genesis.
Suddenly, the arena is plunged into darkness, and after a few moments' consternation, the GlobalVision flickers into life. The message "WE WILL BE HERE SOON" appears on the screen, and JF yells that's the second message we've seen about this mysterious 'we'. Stub asks what the hell it all means, and as the message fills our screens, Meltdown goes off the air…
